Quayle, who also delivered tho sormon. Short of Salt Lake, City and by Bishop Quaylo. An organization was affected and tho following otlicers elected: F. B. Short, of Salt Lake, president; W. G. Orr, of Corinne, first vice-president; Ransom P. Nichols of Prico, second vice-president; D, E. Cnrtcr of Richfield, Rich-field, third vice-president; Dr. A. C. Perro of Salt Lake, fourth vice-president, and Benjamin Trapp of Salt Luke, secretary and treasurer. Ransom P. Nichols was ordained an oldor in tho church. Assignments of PastorB. At the meeting held this evening the following assignments wero made for the coming year: Richfield "district, E. E. Mork, superintendent; super-intendent; E. E. Mork also being as signed to Brigham City, Ephraim, Sprine City, Mount Pleasant, Maroni, Ogden First Scandinavian church, and tho Salt Lake Norwegian and Danish church. Marvsvalc, Junction, Richfield, Elsi-nore, Elsi-nore, Monroe and somo other small places. D. E. Carter. TL ,T. The last meeting of the conference was held in the Provo opera house at 8 p. m under the auspices of the board of foreign missions, when the assignments assign-ments were mado for the ensuing .year, and Bishop Quayle gave his parting admonitions to those present, and especially es-pecially to tho ministry and Sundny school " teachers. Tho following statements state-ments were read and adopted: "The annual conference is to its preachers what a Juno rain is to a field of growing grain a season of refreshing refresh-ing and reviving. Tho air is purified and sweetened, new life is infused, tho mental and spiritual horizon are broadened broad-ened and the promises of God glow anew with the white heat of coming fulfillment. ' . "Many agencies contribute to this blessod consummation; the meeting of men whose ideals are welded togothcr with a holy passion for the world's salvation sal-vation and whose Hps are aflame with the story of Christ's wonderful love, tho uniform hospitality of the church and the families that entertain the conference, con-ference, and tho new inspiration which comes from thoso who preside over us. "Our meeting in Provo has greatly increased our optimism. Wc thoreforo desire to exiirc0" our gratitudo to God for his continued and unfailing goodness. good-ness. Wc thank Bishop Talbott for his brotherly oversight, and to Bishop Quavlc wo desire to say: "Bishop, wo thank our general conference con-ference for placing you among our general gen-eral superintendents. You came among us rather a stranger, but wo wore disposed dis-posed to take you in. We did so, and you have captured all our hearts. Your ministration of the affairs of the Methodist Meth-odist Eniscopal church will bo cvor kindly and efficient. Your stylo of sormon sor-mon and your matchless manner of lecturing lec-turing will prove a profitable inspiration inspira-tion to the coming hosts who shall fill our pulpits, as well as thoso that occupv the pews of tho churches. Wc .thank you for your insistenco upon finding 'and holding onto the sweet and hapnv sido of life, and we pray that you may so conserve your energies thar. your health shall guarantee your services to our church for many years, because wc feel the need of your holj' optimism and Christian zeal " Tho next, annual conference will bo held in Salt Lake City. |
