Openshaw in solemn rites performed this morning' (Thursday) in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. A wedding reception will compliment the newlyweds this evening between 5:00 and 9:00 o'clock at the Ezra J. Nixon home and gardens. - - A fall setting in the gardens of the E. J. Nixon residence will provide the background for the reception which will honor newly-weds, newly-weds, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Douglas Openshaw, who pledged vows this morning in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, with Elder Spencer W. Kimball, of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, officiating. A wedding breakfast at the Doll House honored the newlyweds immediately following the ceremony. cere-mony. Time for the garden and home reception has been set from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. this evening (Thursday), Sept. 20. A general invitation is being issued through this means to all friends of the Nixons and Openshaws in Roosevelt LDS Stake. Formal invitations were not issued in the stake, because the family would like to have everyone attend at-tend who would care to do so. Guests are urged to arrive at an early hour. Parents of the new bride are Mr. and Mrs. Ezra J. Nixon of Roosevelt and the bridegroom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Openshaw, reside in Vernal Setting for the receiving line will be a tall basket of gladioli in autumn shades flanked by tall candleabra. At the reception the bride will be radiant in a floor-length gown of white embroidered satin in princess style with slight train in back. Long pointed sleeves and a scalloped mandarin collar enhance the molded bodice. The fingertip illusion veil is caught to a pearl studded crown. White satin pumps will be worn and the bride will carry a bridal bouquet centered with a single white orchid, surrounded sur-rounded with stephonatis. Attendants Attending the bride as matron of honor will be Mrs. Jack Nixon who will wear a ballerina length frock of rust taffeta, princess style: Maid of honor will be Miss Fae Openshaw, sister of the groom. Her dress is of pale green taffeta. Bidden as other attendants are Mrs. Norman Haslem, Miss Inez Houtz and Mrs. Gordon Benson, who will wear similarly styled gowns of gold taffeta, also princess princ-ess style. Brown ribbon bows enhance en-hance each of the attendants' dresses and they, will carry baskets' bas-kets' of mums, marigolds and other fall blooms. Petite Karen Colette Nixon, sister sis-ter of the bride, wiLl be the flower girl and will look demure in her white taffeta eyelet frock with autumn colored sash. Her basket of flower will, be a - replica of those the attendants carry. Mother of the bride has chosen for her daughter's reception a Lorna style in lavender silk with silver accessories, to be completed by a corsage of red-violet glam-eh'as. glam-eh'as. The bridegroom's mother will be attired in rose-beige lace with rhinestone trim, accented with a peach-orchid glamelia corsage. cor-sage. Assuming best man duties will bt; Ezra J. Nixon, Jr. (Jack) brother broth-er of the bride, and Marvin Richardson, Rich-ardson, Stanley Anderson and Biyce Caldwell will usher. The outside reception table, covered with an Italian cutwork cloth, will be centered with a three-tier wedding cake, each tier supported by white columns. It will be decorated with apricot-shaded apricot-shaded roses and white lattice hearts and will be topped vith a minitaure temple. Arrangements of fall flowers will further adorn the patio and guest tables.. Napkins Nap-kins in autumn shades of brown, yellow and green, inscribed in bronze will add to the seasonal theme. Mrs. Dwain Buchanan and Mrs. Alva C. Snow will be in charge of serving, and Mrs. Parley Rawlings will attend the gift room. Guest book signing will be directed di-rected by Miss Audrey Hall. Program For Evening Mrs. Floyd Peterson has charge of the program, which will feature fea-ture the following selections: piano and violin music, Mrs. Jay S.. Fitzgerald Fitz-gerald and Mrs., Ray Summers; niano background music, Mrs. Bennie Schmiett and Miss Laura Ann Leavitt; ballet dance, Miss Pam Murdock; piano and violin, Mrs. Eldon Mortensen and Mrs. Alma Wills; vocal solo, Eldon Winterton; vocal duet, Mrs. Fitzgerald Fitz-gerald and Bennie Schmiett; piano duet, Miss Leavitt and Miss Linda : Schmiett; vocal trio, Mrs. Ralph Shields, Mrs. Floyd Peterson and Mrs. Wenzel. Luke; vocal solo, Mrs. Lyle Hintze; vocal duet, Mr. and Mrs. Clair Hollingsworth; vocal vo-cal duet, Mrs. Harold Timothy and Bert Angus. iSouthern California via Las Vegas is the honeymoon destination destina-tion of the young couple following their reception. They will return through Northern California, after which they will be at home to their many friends in Vernal, where Mr. Openshaw is assistant manager of the J. C. Penney Store. The new bride is a graduate of Union High School and also of the Brigham Young University, where she received a B.S. degree last spring in secretarial training. |
