Mrs. Florence Mohlman, accompanied accom-panied by her son, Grant, went 1 to Salt Lake City Friday morning I on business and returned Sunday. Grant attended the Ice Follies. OPENING SOCIAL Mt. Emmons Relief Society opening op-ening social was held Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 2 p.m., Ruth Dastrup presiding. A reading was given by Rosebeile Ames, a vocal solo by Mrs. Edgar Miles, a vocal solo solo by Norma Hansen and a piano selection was given by Mrs. Eva Bentley. Refreshments were served also. Relief Society lessons will start next week, October 4th. ' GLEANERS MEET Mt. Emmons ward Gleaners met Sept. 22 at the home of Rhea Lambert. Alma Young presided and Mrs.- Edgar Miles presented the lesson. They were happy to have Miss Diane Hullinger join the class. At the close of the meeting light refreshments were served. Miss Gayle Case left for the BYU Saturday in company with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Case. Gayle is affiliated with Alpha Al-pha Lambda Delta, women's national na-tional honorary scholastic society there. Mr. and Mrs. Case went on to Salt Lake City to see Holiday On Ice before returning home. Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Miles and family visited the State Fair in Salt Lake City, after which they visited their daughter, Mrs.' Mona Nebeker in Ogden. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Shiner accompanied the Edgar Ed-gar Miles. They also visited their granddaughter, Mrs. Bob Clark at the Roosevelt Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hansen, of Salt Lake, visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Grant Hansen. Mrs. Leslie Orr returned from a visit with her daughter, Colleen and son-in-law, Pete Nielsen. They are the proud parents of a baby son, weighing &y2 lbs. , Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Ray Hansen went visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wanless Shields Thursday Thurs-day evening. Mrs. Eliza Neilson reported' that her husband, Francis J. Neilson, has had a successful operation and that he is recuperating at the Veterans' Vet-erans' Hospital. VARIETY CLUB MEETS The Variety Club met at the home of Mrs. Lois LaRose Thursday, Thurs-day, Sept. 22. The evening was spent in sewing and visiting. Mrs. LaRose served a nice luncheon. The next meeting will be held in the home of Leona Swallow. WINS GAME 20 to 8 A baseball game was played against Duchesne at Altamont on Sept. 21. Altamont was victorious by the score of 20 to 8. R H E Duchesne 8 4 8 Altamont 20 16 3 Batteries were: Duchesne, W. Baum, Rowley, pitchers.; Lloyd, catcher;, and Altamont, Iorg, Drol-linger, Drol-linger, pitchers; Denver and B. Christensen, catchers. Pete Nyberg connected for two ringing doubles. Larry Hansen contributed a triple and double; Ralph Thacker had 3 singles in 4 times at bat. Allen Iorg pitched a very good game and contributed two doubles and a single. Altamont has a very well balanced bal-anced team, which shows a lot of promise in years to come, being composed mostly of tenth and eleventh graders. The schedule for Duchesne County Coun-ty games is as follows: Sept. 30 Tabiona at Duchesne Oct. 7 Altamont at Duchesne Oct. 11 Tabiona at Altamont Oct. 21 Duchesne at Tabiona TO INITIATE FROSH The freshmen initiation will be held at Altamont High School Friday, Fri-day, Sept. 30. Sophomores plan to assign to the freshmen the clothes they are to wear for that day. An assembly is being planned, with a dance in the evening for the senior high sjudents and the adult ad-ult public. Principal and Mrs. Doyle Swallow Swal-low went to Salt Lake City, Friday, Fri-day, to attend the State Fair, and see Holliday On Ice. Mr. and Mrs. LaMar Orr and Mrs. William Orr brought Jennie Orr to Altamont to spend some time with her son, Leslie Orr and family. She had been visiting with the Orrs in Richland, Oregon. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Brown from Spanish Fork, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Gl'endon Hanberg, Sunday. Kenneth and Glendon were buddies in the Navy and hadn't seen each other since they served together. Hartman & Sons Milking Shorthorns Short-horns won honors in competition against a total of 38 head of Milking Milk-ing Shorthorns. Some were brought from Idaho and there were two eastern bulls competing. Hartman & Sons won first place in the Sr. Bull division and first place in Sr. Heifer division. They placed third in Aged Cow class and second sec-ond place in having the best 3 individuals. |
