Show Rulon M. "Mac" Lyman dragged to death by horse; Services held Rulon McGregor "Mac" Lyman, Ly-man, Jr., 3, was the victim of a tragic accident shortly after af-ter noon last Sunday at his father's ranch out near the west hills when he was dragged drag-ged to death by the horse he had been riding. Death was caused by internal injuries. H.f was apparently thrown from the horse while attempting attempt-ing to lasso a steer which had come in contact with a porcupine. porcu-pine. His arm was caught in the loop of the rope he was using, and he was dragged for about a half mile over rough terrain, before the horse was stopped, His wife was with him and went for help when the horse was stopped, but he was dead at that time or died before help could come. Services were held for him on Wednesday at 2 p. m. in the Parowan Third Ward chapel, cha-pel, with Bishop Hyatt Bent-ley Bent-ley in charge. Burial was in the Parowan City cemetery under the direction of the Southern Utah Mortuary. Mr. . Lyman was born May 12, 1933 to Rulan M. and Mary Welch Lyman at Cowley, Wyo. and they came to Parowan shortly after. He attended local lo-cal schools and graduated from Parowan High School. He attended USU at Logan, the BYU at Provo and U of U in Salt Lake City, and lived in that place for a number of years. He was a member of the LDS Church. Returning to Parowan a few years ago he assisted his father fa-ther in his livestock activities. At the time of his death he was an account executive and member of the new staff of KSUB Radio. He had been active ac-tive as an entertainer, a vocalist vo-calist and emcee on various programs. He served in the 82nd Para-troop Para-troop Division in U. S. Army and was a member of the American Legion. While residing resid-ing in Salt Lake City he was a member of the police force, worked as a commercial artist for Avard Fairbanks. He is survived by his widow, wi-dow, Sharon Price Oglesby Lyman, whom he married in Salt Lake City in 1966; stepchildren, step-children, Tad, Kim, Lee and Randy Oglesby, Parowan; children chil-dren from a former marriage: Kim, Corey, Sydney and Doug Lyman, Salt Lake City; parents, par-ents, and three sisters, Mrs. LaMar (Roma) Jensen; Mrs. Norman (Mary Gae) Evans, and Ruth L. Jenson, all of Parowan. |
