The vote was 64. to IS- The bill, which operates the U. 8. housing authority, also authorizes a $20,020,000 federal subsidy annually to be paid out on the project for the purpose of reducing rents. Its spon- sors declared the federal government govern-ment would be repaid every penny advanced out of rentals of the projects. The bill contemplated construction of projects only where states or-municipalities or-municipalities acres to eradicate slums The maximum rate subsidy would be 3 14 per cent of the cost of the project, which would amount to 135 a year on each $1000 of cost This would be used to reduce rents on the project.
