Dlttman, manager of tha Eagle Tavern at Fourth South and West Temple streets, complained that women's purses were being stolen from a restroom while the owners were powdering their noses. The thief, Dlttman said, simply reached for the purses through a window. Qussie Friend, policewoman, and Patrolmen J. E. Tucker and V. F. Duncombe went to the tavern and while the patrolmen waited la an , alley outside, Miss Friend stuffed a purse with paper and laid It on a table In the restroom. Walk Up Alley Boon, police said, Kasteler walked up the alley and reached for the purse. He couldn't quite reach it and moved on. Miss Friend cooperated coop-erated by moving the purse closer to the window. Ten minutes later, Kasteler returned re-turned and grabbed the puree and ran. The two officers each fired a shot la the air, then captured the suspect on a porch at a near-by ' residence.
