Show Boxers Sign For Outdoor Fistic-Meet Fifty or mora young leather push-ars push-ars will be on display next waek in an outdoor boxing show at Community Commu-nity park sponsored by the Inter-mountain Inter-mountain A. A. U. and directed locally lo-cally by Art Lund and Harry Miller. Mil-ler. The ring carnival opens Thursday night, August 12, at 8 o'clock and will continue Friday and Saturday nights. The deadline for entries baa been set for next Tuesday. A number of Utah's best simon-pure simon-pure acrappers have already entered, en-tered, the contestants including Louis Nelson, Willis Sharp, Terry Orchard and Alvin Sweeney, a quartet quar-tet of promising Salt Lake City fighters. Teams will come from Ogden Antlers, An-tlers, Vernal chamber of commerce. University of Idaho Southern, Price and Provo Elks clubs, Park City and from a number of CCC camps throughout the state. Verline Hoffine, 160-pounder from Butte and a recent competitor in the Utah A. A. U. indoor tournament, tourna-ment, also has filed entry. The young boxers will be classified classi-fied according to experience and age. assuring each youth every possible pos-sible opportunity of victory. Paul Ferguson will again serve as matchmaker, with Rex Sutherland, Suther-land, Captain Edward P. Passai-laigurand Passai-laigurand Harold McNeil as judges. Suitable awards will be presented winners of each class. |
