Show GROUP OPPOSES -SOILiROPOSAL, First opposition to creation of Utah soil conservation districts cropped out Thursday at hearing in Enterprise, Sumner G. Margett, executive secretary of the state soil conservation committee, reported report-ed Friday on his return to the capl-tol. capl-tol. Sheepmen of southwestern Utah Objected to inclusion oHlat lands in the proposed 576,000-acre Enterprise Enter-prise district, Mr. Margetts said, but everyone at the hearing favored a district limited to the Enterprise watershed. It is expected a new petition for approval of the smaller district will be submitted shortly. Under authority of a law passed by the last legislature, soil conservation conser-vation districts are being established estab-lished on watersheds throughout the state to participate in the federal fed-eral and erosion control program. Hearing on creation of the Huntington Hunt-ington river district will be held at 2 p. m. Monday In Huntington, Mr. Margetts said. |
