Show i Men's Golf League Season Cedar City Men's Golf League got underway this past Saturday afternoon with Art Pryor, Chuck Clark, Claude Slack and Cliff Casper posting a 12 under par 60 in a four-man scramble. "The scramble lends itself to low scores," commented assistant pro Kim Thompson, Thomp-son, "as each player plays the best ball on each hole. The best drive of the four, is the spot where the second shot is taken, and so on," he explained. A total of eight teams participated and the opening event at the Painted Hills Golf Course was capped by a steak dinner for the players, wives and guests. Saturday, May 3, the next tournament competition will be held. It will be a two-man best ball tournament and is sanctioned by the state association. An entry fee will be charged whnich included a breakfast to be served from 7 to 11 a.m. Shot gun starts are scheduled for the 18-hole tournament. Starting times for each nine holes have been set for 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Tropies and prizes will be awarded in both net and gross winners, Thompson stated. "We expect to fill this tournament which is one of the most popular of the season," he said. "We expect ex-pect approximately 60 teams to participate and will have participants from Cedar, St. George, Beaver, Richfield, Delta, Milford and expect some entries from as far away as Salt Lake and Las Vegas.". As late as Tuesday of this week there will still be openings in the tournament schedule, Thompson said.
