Show T-birds recruit A pair of forwards from the Utah 4-A state champion Hillcrest Huskies will join the Southern Utah Stae College basketball team next season. Gene Player, 6-6, 195, and Mark Brown, 6-6, 190, have each indicated their intention in-tention to enroll at SUSC next season. Both were starters and regulars for Coach Jim Jimas at the Salt Lake City high school. "Both of these players have the potential to step right in and help us immediately," im-mediately," Steve Hodson, SUSC assistant coach, indicates. in-dicates. "Player is an ex cellent shooter in the 17-foot range, while Brown is basically an inside player with excellent jumping ability." Brown was a 4-A all-stater, all-stater, while Player was named to the all-state second team and to the all tournament team in the four-state four-state cerebral palsy tournament tour-nament this year. During Hillcrest's 23-1 season, Brown averaged 15 points while Player was hitting 14 per game. Brown hauled down an average of 11 rebounds; Player averaged 10. |
