Monroe coed Crowned Rodeo Queen Cheri Trejo, a freshman elementary education major from Monroe, has been crowned rodeo queen at Southern Utah State College. She and her court will reign over Wild West Week activities ac-tivities ; this week and over intercollegiate rodeo action Friday and Saturday. Trejo, daughter of Milton and Marylou Trejo, is a 1979 graduate of South Sevier High School. The SUSC rodeo club member was selected rodo queen on the basis of personal interview with the three contest judges, appearance in western wear and horsemanship hor-semanship skills. "The rodeo queen must be able to ride and control her horse very well," explains Lark Flanigan, rodeo club advisor. "She must also correctly answer several questions about the anatomy of her mount and about the care of horses and riding equipment." Rodeo team member Effie Sorensen was named first attendant. The 1979 graduate of Cedar High School is a freshman physical education major at SUSC and is a barrel racer for SUSC's rodeo team. She is the daughter of DeMoin and ' Lucy Sorensen. Debby Dotson, daughter of Edwin J. and Lois Dotson, 7117 West Craig Road, Las Vegas, was named second attendant. She is also a rodeo club member. The 1974 graduate of Western High School is a senior sociology major at SUSC. DesiRee Potter, another barrel racer for. SUSC's rodeo team, was named Miss Congeniality in the annual rodeo queen contest. ; Potter is a freshman ; business education major and a 1979 graduate of Wayne High School. Her 'parents are James B. and Joan Potter, Loa. As SUSC's rodeo queen, Trejq.i9 . now . eligible to compete "for "Miss College Rodeo America". The national contest will be held in Bozeman, Montana, June 16-21, during the College National Finals Rodeo. SUSC's rodeo action will be held Friday and Saturday evenings, beginning at 7:30 p.m., at the Iron Rangers Arena located southwest of Cedar City. An afternoon performance will begin there at 1:30 pm. Saturday. |
