His 1976-77 team battled its way to the national NAIA tournament. The best two years for Jack were the 1976-77 (21-7) and 1977-78 ( 20-6) seasons. Four seasons Jack led his squads to the finals of the four-state district playoffs. Before coming to SUSC, Jack coached 10 years at Upper Iowa College in Fayette, Iowa. There, his teams won four Iowa Con-ferenc Con-ferenc e championships and four NAIA District 15 championships. Two of his teams at Upper Iowa competed in the NAIA national tournament. He received his BS degree from Upper Iowa aftrer lettering four years in both basketball and baseball. He was selected to all-conference all-conference teams in both sports. His master's degree was earned in physical education at the University of Iowa. Jack has published a book, "Incentive Offensive Basketball," and several magazine articles. Stan Jack, veteran basketball coach at Southern Utah State College, has announced that he is leaving the school to accept a position at an Iowa Junior College. Jack, who is also coaching the Thunderbird baseball this season, will complete the school year at SUSC before moving to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to serve as athletic director and head basketball coach at Kirk-wood Kirk-wood Community College. "I've enjoyed my years at SUSC, and I feel a sense of accomplishment," Jack said. "I have several members of my family back in the Cedar Rapids area, and I think that the challenge of the administrative ad-ministrative responsibility will be good for me."
