Show Rams place 2nd in Home Invitational PAROWAN - The Parowan Rams were host to Beaver, Milford and Kanab at their Invitational Meet held on Thursday April2 4. The day was perfect for track and only once did a wind come up. Team captain, David Evans, won both sprints as he edged David Crosby from Kanab in the 100 yard dash with a time of 10.58 and won easily over Gary Glover in the 220 yard dash with a 24.2 clocking. Doug Hermansen, a sophomore, placed second in the 440 yard dash behind Jess Cox of Beaver in a time of 56.78. Pat Benson who is runner track for the first time as a senior, placed fourth in the Intermediate Hurdles with a 45.5 clocking. In the 880 yard run the Rams are tough with sophomore Doug Hermansen Her-mansen who i has run a 2.09 this season , who won the event at 2:12.51 seconds. In the mile Mike Webb placed fourth after trying to run on a bad leg. Lloyd Baker placed first in the two mile run with a 11:18.05 clock as he ran away from the field by 30 seconds. The Rams pulled up in the 440 relay as anchorman David Morgan pulled a muscle which will put him out for the season. The mile relay team of Doug Hermansen, David Evans, Todd Cooper and Wade Adams won easily and should be capable of winning state with this team. In the medley relay the Rams placed second to round out the scoring in the running events. In the field events the Rams placed well as Doug Spendlove placed third in the javelin followed by teammate team-mate Todd Robinson who placed fifth. David Evans came away with fourth place in the long jump with a jump of 187". In . the discus Todd Robinson placed fourth and Doug Spendlove rounded out the scoring int he Shot put as he placed fourth. Kanab was the victor of the meet with 60 points ' followed by Parowan 47 and Milford.31. |
