Show Biology Students make Field Trip professors instructed them on their current research and demonstrated how they .were.., conducting their i reseaircHV- 1 Students saw the operation of many . types of sophisticated equipment used by the University faculty in : their research on photosynthesis, ecology, turtles, ocean ecology, neurology, breath rate, etc. Teachers Mary Ann Wilks and Glade Sorensen felt the trip was well worth the time. PAROWAN - Students from Parowan and Cedar High Schools advanced biology classes recently, vjsited Salt Lakg City, .on, : field trip. The students left" on the morning of April 22 and visited the Veterans Administration Hospital1 Animal Research Center upon arrival in SLC. They were instructed on the purpose of the center and shown the facility and the animals therein. There are currently research projects being conducted with dogs, rats, mice, several species of monkeys, rabbits, and albino cats. There is also one of the largest serpentariums in the western US which houses over 200 venomous snakes whose venom is being used to make an-tivenin an-tivenin and tested in the treatment of arthritis and other ailments. Students then visited Hansen's Planetarium to see "The Last Question." On the 23 of April, students visited the University of Utah Medical Center where they saw: The In-termountain In-termountain Infant IN-tensive IN-tensive Care Unit, the In-termountain In-termountain Burn Center, Engineering, Surgical Research, Physical Therapy, Anesthesiology Research, the Medical Library media center where they saw a film on fetal alcohol syndrome, Hematology, and an Electroencephalogram Elec-troencephalogram being taken. The classes then spent the afternoon at the University of Utah Biology Department where |
