Show VOICE OF THE PEOPLE Editor Washington County News: Bright Christmas cheer to all mankind; man-kind; greetings of peace, of love, of friendship to all; hatred, malice, mal-ice, ill will to none. What a joy life would be were friendship made the universal theme. Friendship, Friend-ship, the acme of life's sweetest pleasure; the fruits of God's choicest choic-est blessings; the spiritual conscience con-science of the Oracles of Heaven; the light that glimmers so faintly in the midnight gloom of a war-mad war-mad world, and the gloom com-prehendeth com-prehendeth if not. That friendly ray of light; that peace and joy; love and good will to man, are within the reach of every human being whose soul is in tune with the Spirit of Christ. I have no quarrel with my tellow men; all men are my brothers;, all are children of the self-same God Father. I love them all; I love my enemies, pray for them that hate me, do good to them that persecute me, bless them that curse me. If a filthy, depraved old tramp comes to my door, I welcome him with open arms and greatful heart, just as I would the Good Master Himself, for, if I turn him away I am turning away the Jesus, for how am I to know it is not Jesus in person? The Christmas cheer I would broadcast broad-cast to the world is, "Grace and mercy; Brotherhood of man and Fatherhood of God". These sacred sentiments expressed ex-pressed above apply only to Christians, who follow in the footsteps foot-steps of Jesus, therefore, they are not of me, for, sad to say, I am not a Christian. Are you, dear reader? I hope you can answer in the affirmative. And taking a comprehensive view of conditions in the world today, do you not think that this Christmas season, above all others, is an opportune time to turn our hearts in love and good will to our fellow men? And let us pause for a brief moment in our mad rush through life, and think of the Baby Jesus wrapped in swaddling cloth, lying in the manger, so meek and humble and lowly. Then we see Him hanging upon the Cross, and as His life is eeking out He lifts His eyes to Heaven, and utters these immortal words: "Forgive them, Father, for they know not what they do". "They", were His enemies. SYLVESTER EARL, Virgin, Utah. |
