Show Miss Mary Whitehurst Honored By Many Parties Prior to her departure Sunday to make her home in Beverly Hills, Calif., Miss Mary Whitehurst, who for more than zi years nas uecuj a nurse at the local hospital, was honored informally with dinners and other events. The St. George B.-P. W. club, of which she has been a member since its organization here, gave her special consideration at their pre-Christmas social held last week at the home of Mrs. Anne R. Price. Toasts, tributes and sentiments from those who had associated with her intimately, preceded the presentation of a special gift from the entire organization. org-anization. Born in Maccensfield, Cheshire, England, a daughter of George and Sarah Wiggley Whitehurst, she came to America and Utah at the age of 16, with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wolffenden of Beaver, Bea-ver, who had headed that part of the British mission over an extended period. She made her home with this family for two years and then moved to the home of Dr. and Mrs. D. A. McGregor, Mc-Gregor, where she began her training as nurse, coming with them to St. George in July, 1915. Miss Whitehurst's service as nurse in the local hospital has endeared her to hundreds of people in this area, who regret her departure at this time, but who extend wishes for good luck and happiness in her new location. |
