Show 'Uncle Charley' To Observe His Ninety-Ninth Christmas This Year Not many men are privileged, as is Charles W. "Uncle Charley" Seegmiller to celebrate Christmas 99 times and under as many and varied conditions as this Dixie pioneer agriculturist can tell of. Born in Stratford, Canada, he really saw white Christmases before be-fore coming across the long plains trail to Utah. And in the Muddy Valley in eastern Nevada; in Prattsville, Utah, where he and his wife lived with their small family for three or four years, and since 1877, when they returned re-turned to Dixie, Uncle Charley has witnessed lean and prosperous Christmases; cold, stormy, white Christmases, and bright, sunny Christmases, many of them. With six of his seven living children and most of his grandchildren grand-children and great-grandchildren located in St. George, this 99th celebration of this gala occasion will be a big day for him. He is never disturbed by the noise of children and his descendants enjoy nothing better than to visit their grandsire, who will reach his century mark on January 2, 1943. |
