Show Record Number of Utahns Sought Game in. Year of 1951 The year 1951 found more Utahns afield in pursuit of fish and game than ever before. Records Rec-ords show that one in every 3.6 people in Utah purchased a license to hunt or fish last year. Sale of fishing and hunting licenses li-censes in 1951 presently stand at 185,628 as compared to the 1950 total of 179,546, or an increase in-crease of 6.082. This Increase will be altered upward slightly as final results of sales from a minor number of outlying license li-cense dealers are counted. "The expenditure of money by the average citizen in the pursuit pur-suit of fish and game creates an income for nearly every form of business in our state," said Director J. Perry Egan. "Our wildlife resources", he said, "are now recognized as a highly significant sig-nificant factor in Utah's overall income. More, each year, we must realize that the fish and game dollar return is big business busi-ness to all of us. Not being a tax supported agency, the Utah Fish and Game Department is chiefly dependent upon the sale of licenses li-censes as its source of funds for operation of all department functions." |
