The bout will be staged at the Branch Agricultural college Memorial fieldhouse under the sponsorship of the college athletic department,, depart-ment,, announces Coach Geo Petty, Pet-ty, B A C physical education director. Layne, who has a victory over the world's heavyweight champion, cham-pion, Jersey Joe Walcott, to his credit, and who has been rated as Utah's most promising heavyweight heavy-weight since the days of Jack Dempsey, will appear here in a 10-round bout against John Pretzie Pret-zie of Boston. Pretzie has fought Rocky Marciano, rated as the man most likely to succeed Walcott Wal-cott on the heavyweight throne, and made a very commendable showing against him.
