Show 'if fP ( A tC New Officers Elected to Coordinatinq Council Gordon Christensen and Mrs. John M. Brown were elected to positions on the Central committee com-mittee of the Cedar City Coor-dinating Coor-dinating council at the meeting of the group held last week. They succeed William Snow and Mrs. Arthur Gardner, both of whom have given long service on the committee. Mr. Snow had served with the central group for the past nine years and during the past year had served as chairman chair-man of the council. Mrs. Gardner has served continuously as a member of the committee, since the coordinating council was organized or-ganized 12 years ago. In addition to the election of officers time was devoted at the meeting to a thorough discussion discus-sion of community zoning and planning. Mr. Snow explained that the first beautification committee com-mittee of the coordinating council, coun-cil, appointed in 1D40, had urged the city to make a study of property prop-erty uses, which resulted in the present planning and zoning program pro-gram in Cedar City. George Smeath and Leon Freh-ner, Freh-ner, city planning consultants from Salt Lake City, were principal prin-cipal speakers at the meeting, outlining the purposes of planning plan-ning and zoning within a community, com-munity, and the overall effect proper planning can have on orderly or-derly community growth. Mr. Frehner also commented upon the value of uniform street tree planting in a community, and urged property owners to use native plants and trees in beautifying their surroundings. Reports were made at the meeting by Dr. Reed W. Farns-worth, Farns-worth, chairman of the annual art exhibit, and Farrell Peterson, city recreation committee chairman. |
