This is tho message of Good Fellow, royal ruler of the Order of Good Fellows, Fel-lows, to tho people of Salt Lake: Be a Good Fellow. l?cmember those cold Christmas mornings of your childhood when yeni climbed quickly out of bed at the first break of dawn and ran eagerly to where 3rou had hung your stocking the night beforo to sco what Santa ClauB brought you. Think of tho joy of your own children or your little brothors and sisters whon thoy are ffivon, on the day of days, painted or tin trifles that seem foolish to you, but mean bo much to them. Think of the hundreds of little . children in. this city who, without your assistance, will awaken on tho Savior's birthday to learn that Santa Claus is a rich man 's saint , and that ho forgot . them becauso their father nnd mothor had to upend their money for coal nnd food. Then figure how little it will cost you to mako ono or two little hearts glad and Bo a Good Follow. Response Is Prompt. There aro plenty of good fellows in Salt Lake nnd because there nTe so many good follows, tho Order of Good Fellows is frrowing daily. Since Saturday Satur-day tho royal ruler of tho organization has received hundreds of letters from persons imbued -with good fellowship, who wish to bring cheer into hearts of little children by playing Santa Claus. Ho has also received almost an equal tnnmber of letters from parents of children chil-dren who wore reported in destitute circumstances. A foaturo of the Icttors received from parents whom Good Fellow helped last year and to whom tho offer of assistance was made this j'car, is the tono of thankfulnoss and appreciation. That the city is more prosperous than Inst year and that thoro are Dot so many families in dire financial straits is indicated by tho many letters sent by familioa aidod last yoar and who stato thev roquiro no assistance thiB eoason. However thero aro many who aro without inonoy for anything except necessaries of life and to all theso Christinas will bo mado glad. Tho following is an oxamplo of the lottors rccoived from persons who wero (Continued on Pago Four.) YULETIDE'S CHEER ILL BE EIEI (Continued from Pago One,) helped last year, but who require no assistance thi3 Christmas:' Order of Good PellowB: I received your lotter and wish to thank you very much for your klnduoso, but this year we don't need anything for our children. "That mothor has tho .right spirit iu her heart. There arc hundreds hun-dreds of others just like her and mighty few of the appeals for help are anything but genuine.' In this work wo don 't havo many appeals, from por-sons por-sons who do not really need 'help. Liko the writer of that letter, most mothers and fathers who know what it means not to have enough to buy lovs for the kiddies rcalizo that they would bo robbing rob-bing others of happiness shouia they asK lor uoip wnen uiov uo not need it." Tho largest iamily that has boon cared for so far- by Good Fellow was a family of ton children. Uo received a lotter from a man who had plenty or the world's goods and wished to make himself as well as children happy by tho knowledge that at least some of his ifts would not bo estimated by the ollars that they cost. So he wrote to the order, and askod for a large family. fam-ily. The family of ten was given him and he has given assurauco that overy ono of the eager children will find not ono but several presents, in his or her stockings Christmas morning. Business Men Assist.
