Show EAST BOXING CARD IS FlILLi TILLS Two Knockouts, a Decision and Two Even Bouts Supply Sport. SCHRADER IS BEATEN Chris Romeo and "BuH" Tucker Give Most Scientific Scien-tific Exhibition. Tho second of tho Manhattan Athletic club's weekly boxing shows, which waa given In the Arlon hall last night, was a success with respect to the snappy programme pro-gramme given; the largo crowd which attended, and tho enthusiasm which was shown. From all sides pralso was heard for Hardy Downing, managor of the club, for the excellent manner in which he arranged ar-ranged and staged the bouts. No unnecessary un-necessary delay was caused between events and tho flghtors wore ready in tholr places when tlmo for their bout to begin was called. Though tho final and majn event of tho programme, between AI Schrader of Salt Lako and Perry Lewis of Denver, was expected by most of those present to furnish the class of tho evening, it was outstripped for the science of the boxers and the cleverness of tho boxing game by the bout botwecn, "Bud" Tucker of Salt Lake and Chris Romeo of St. Joseph. Mo. These boys left out the evident wlldness and wastefulness of attack which characterized char-acterized every other bout of the evening; Lewis Wins Decision. The Lewis-Schradcr bout was the only one which" went tho entlro four rounds, for which a decision was given. Referee Hardy Downing awarded the fight to Lewis and his decision met with the approval ap-proval of tho fans. Lewis did not completely com-pletely outclass his opponent, but by consecutive blows In the third round he managed to oor Schrader, who took the count of nine. The beating which Schrader had taken weakened him and in the fourth round he did not show his aggressiveness ag-gressiveness of the first rounds. For the first two rounds the honors were even, Lewis rushing the attack and Schrader skillfully warding off the blows of his opponent. Tho other bouts woro fast and the participants par-ticipants wore evenly matched. In tho first one. Raj' Jackson knocked out Andy Anderson In the second round after mat ters for the first round had been ovon. The boys aro both lightweights. They went at it from the beginning with a determination each to knock out the othor and their gameness and headwork filled the crowd with dollght. Knockout Is Complete. After each of tho men had been knocked to the floor once or twice Jackson Jack-son landed a straight left which was made effective partly because Anderson ran Into In-to it, the blow taking him full in tho face. Ho dropped and remained down for the full count. Tho second event of tho evening, a bout between Don Stewart of Ogden and "Kid" Mat of Salt Lake, furnished real excitement excite-ment and plenty of thrills. Tho boys showed lack of science of the game and their encounter took up tho appearance of a battle royal. The steady blows of cacli wero effective and the vouths only slowed down when compelled to by exhaustion. ex-haustion. In the second round Stewart landed a telling blow which brought Mat to tho floor, where he remained for the count. Tho forco with which hjs head hit tho floor was In Itself enough to score a knockout. No Decision Given. "Bud" Tucker and Chris Romeo went the full four rounds, at tho end of which no decision was given. Each ono had slight advantages over tho other and both displayed splendid skill of the game. All of the rounds were even and neither of tho men was knocked to tho floor during tho bout. For tho fourth event of the evening a substitution was made of Harry Schaefer for "Kid" Sales. Tho bout was originally arranged between bales and Sing Hasan. Sales, however, met with an unfortunato accident yesterday yester-day afternoon, when some hot greaso was spilled on his hand, rendering him Incapable Inca-pable of participating during tho evening. Schaefer agreed to substitute, although he had not been training for the ovent. He had n slight advantage over tho Chinaman iti weight and reach. No decision deci-sion was yiven at the end of tho four rounds and Hosan was loudly cheered bv ihe crowd v.Ikmi ho left the rlnsr for hla splendid showing against his opponent. Fighters Are Warned. When the fight began the opinion of the fans seemed to bo that Schaefer would have a runaway match. They went to it again with renewed re-newed vigor, although Schaefer could caln no advantage over his competitor.
