Show UNI IPPOINTIiTS MAY BE IDE TODAY Private Advices Indicate the Naming of Ray and Nebeker. Prlvntc advices received in this city yesterday are that W. W. Hay in all probability will today "be nominated for United States district attorney for Utah and tlinl Aqulln Ncbekcr may at the samo time be nominated by President Wilson for United States marshal for Utah. It Is said that both men would have, been nominated last week but for the fact that President Wilson was too ill to leave his room for three days and give nttentlon lo anything but most pressing press-ing matters. It was rumored In Salt "Lake yesterday that Lyman R. Martlneau, who has been making a fight for the mnrshalshlp as u compromise candidate, especially after tho deadlock botween Xebekcr and George A. Storre developed, had sent a long telegram tel-egram to William F. McCombs, chairman of the Democratic national committee. In which his (Mnrtlneau's) appointment was urged as a compromise. Mr. McCombs, it is said, replied that he would do all that he could and Is said .to have taken up the question with Assistant Attornoy General Samuel Graham. Hiram E. Booth, district attorney, Is reported to have said yesterday that he believed he would bo retained In his present capacity at least until December 13. as on that date a certain caso IS scheduled for trial. Mr. Booth believes, it is said, that he will be allowed to try this case before he is removed The private message received hei'o last night, however, would seem to Indicate, that both Mr. Martlnoau's long telegram and Mr. Booth's belief arc in vain. |
