'Williams of Springfield, Mo., who camo here about ten days ago and bought an interest in a grocery store, evidently with tho intention of making this his home, hns disappeared, according to S. F. Phillips of the Phillips Cash Grocery & Confectionery company. Mr. Williams gave no Intimation ns to where .ho Intended In-tended to go and Information regarding him Is sought by Mr. Phillips. "When he was asked yesterday regarding regard-ing the disappearance of Mr. Williams, Mr. Phillips said: Mr. "Williams camo hero from Springfield, and I met him for the first, tlmo Saturday. November 20, when he invested some money here ii nd arranged to begin work In the store the following Monday. Ho called on mo on Sunday, tho next day.'and seemed in no mood to change his mind about coming to work, bul I havon't. seen him slnco that time. I made inquiries regarding posslblo accidents and at the police station, but have beon unable to find uny-Irace uny-Irace of him. Ho paid room rent and board for a month in advance at some placo on South First West street nnd hasn't been there since, and they haven't heard from him. He guvo checks to the landlady thoro and also gave me a check and thoy were cashed without question. Xot only that, but I Inquired at Walker Bios.'s bank and found that lie had considerable more money on deposit there. Mr. Williams was a well-to-do man, apparontly, was about 40 years old, rather dark, with Just a little gray about his temples. Ho was about flvo feet six Inches in height, and he told mo that he was single T am anxious about him, but believe be will show up all right In time. |
