Show viewpoint Syv jg or' ' CLIFF MEMMOTT. Editor EDUCATIONAL ADMINISTRATORS AND TEACHERS HAVE MADE FINE MARKS .... Last week an account was carried in our newspapers of the resignation of two school superintendents in the two Basin counties, Duchesne and Uintah. This week a story appears of the resignation of three Seminary instructors in the Roosevelt stake system of the LDS church. In my opinion each of these men has made a definite 1 contribution to' the growth and development of the young people in the Basin, and to the communities as a whole. Each has made his presence felt by taking an active part in civic and church, affairs, and is deserving of special commendation com-mendation for his efforts. One of the most natural weaknesses weak-nesses of a human being is to come to disagreement with others, either verbally or by some thing he has done, or perhaps failed to do. If these men have avoided that experience, ex-perience, then they are indeed very fortunate. . It has not been my privilege to become very well ; acquainted with Harold Lundell, retiring superintendent in Uintah County, but from brief observations and information informa-tion coming from those who have worked closely with him during the three years Union High has been in operation, he has given much to the growth and progress of that two-county two-county operated institution. His wisdom and good judgment have helped the board, principal and faculty over some rough roads, and he has aided materially in many ways to make the fine institution it has grown to be. For this we in this part of the Basin are grateful.- Some have disagreed with a few of the policies and activities of Supt. Dean C. Christensen, but it is my frank and honest opinion that the past four years have seen great and rapid strides made in the field of education in Duchesne County. He is an organizer and has known where he was going most of the way in the educational field in this area. It was my privilege to work very closely on the county fair committee, of which he was chairman, . with him the past two years. Here again he exemplified leadership and organizational ability, a combination that did much to give the fair a position of complete success. The efforts of these two educators will long be felt in their respective districts and in the communities they have lived and worked in. I join all their friends and admirers ad-mirers in wishing them God speed in their new endeavors. There is nothing but the highest of praise due the retiring re-tiring Seminary faculty in the Roosevelt LDS stake seminary sem-inary system. P. Wendel Johnson, Melvin J. Petersen and Walter Lichfield ' have moulded characters and helped change the lives and attitudes of hundreds of young men and women that have passed through their turn-stiles of religious learning. Their departure will leave great gaps in the society in the communities in which they lived. They, too, are given a wish for success and joy in their future endeavors. |
