Show Stake Leaders M Members To "" 1mm llm Youth .Members of the Roosevelt LDS stake presidency, Hollis G. Hullinger, Clifford E. Drol-linger Drol-linger and Ezra J. Nixon, presided pre-sided over the quarterly stake conference last weekend, and were the principal speakers, in the absence of a member of the general authorities of the church. President Hullinger reported on a recent survey he had conducted con-ducted among the students of the local Seminary pertaining to prayer. "Of the group interviewed inter-viewed 75 of the students advised ad-vised him that family prayer was not held regularly in the home, and approximately half of those failed to have prayer at any time. 90 of the Seminary Sem-inary students reported .they had private prayers," is a statement state-ment made by Pres. Hullinger. He made a strong plea to parents par-ents to teach their children to pray by holding family prayers. He also encouraged attendance at Sacrament meetings, urging parents to "take your children, don't send them." "Service to our God and following fol-lowing Christ's pattern of life should be our greatest goal in this life," Pres. Drollinger told the stake membership in his Sunday afternoon address. Pres. Nixon admonished the stake membership that "A testimony tes-timony that Jesus Christ lives, and that He is the Son of the Living God, is absolutely necessary ne-cessary for complete happiness in this life. And that it is necessary ne-cessary for parents to teach their children the gospel To keep the Sabbath Day holy; To live the Word of Wisdom; To accept responsibilities when given giv-en them, and to read the standard stan-dard works of the church and other good books," he said. Other speakers included Pres. and Mrs. Ray E. Dillman, who recently returned from presiding presid-ing over the Western States mission, with headquarters ' in Denver. Three members of the local Seminary made reports, and more or less gave farewell addresses. Wendel Johnson, Mel-vin Mel-vin Peterson and Walter Lichfield Lich-field are leaving- Roosevelt the former two will enter school, and Mr. Lichfield is being be-ing transferred to Wyoming. During the Saturday and Sunday Sun-day conference sessions, those stake leaders called to speak were John B. Gale, Clyde Merk-ley, Merk-ley, Charles Crozier, Mrs, Raymond Ray-mond Lind, Dean Roberts, Or-man Or-man Sullivan, Bert Angus, Lee Jensen, John Page, Oliver Jor-gensen, Jor-gensen, Smith Johnson. Otis Horrocks, Mrs. Clara Gardner and Ariel Michie. High Priests Organized Phillip E. Russon was released re-leased as president of the High Priests quorum of the stake, and his first counselor, Otis Horrocks, was sustained in his place. Austin Wardle, also a counselor to Mr. Russon, was retained as first counselor as was LaZell Henrie, secretary. Mr. Russon is moving from the stake. Dean Roberts, of Myton, was announced as the new president presi-dent of the First Quorum of Elders, replacing Lyle Gingell, who was recently called on a stake mission. His counselors are James Zobell and Holt War-die War-die with John Russell as secretary. |
