Show MINISTERS WILL PLAYjASEBALL Atooording to an announcement made In the Grand Junction papers, that cltr is to be regularly represented represent-ed on the baseball field this season by a team composed entirely of ministers. min-isters. Tho situation Is a most unique one and so far as known has never been duplicated in the annals of professional baseball. There have been picnic teams and near-baseball teams composed entirely of gentlemen of tho cloth, but "never beforo has a city been wholly dependent on tho preachers for Its national gamo. Those who have so far been chosen to fill positions on the ministerial ball team aro as follows. Rev I E, Wade, Christian church. Rev F C Smith, Episcopal church. Rev D Luther Edwards, Congregational Congrega-tional church. Rev E. G. Lane, Baptist church. Rev. H. L. Rohde, English Lutheran church. Ensign Guy Case, Salvation army For the present the remainder of tho lineup will be composed of Y M. C. A. members, but other Grand Junction Junc-tion ministers, with a less knowledge of the game than their abeve-named brothers, havo been induced to enter into practice and It Is expected that before tho season has advanced very far the lineup will be composed en tirely of preachers The organization is the result of tho agitation of Rev Smith nnd Rev. Wade, both of whom were college j diamond stars, and Rev Rhode, who 1 was a gridiron hero in his younger J days and now yearns for tho oxclte- I ment of the baseball field. j oo S |
