Show CHICAGO CITY ELEClli TOOAY CHICAGO, April 3 Extraordinary precautions have been taken to prevent pre-vent fraud at the municipal election tomorrow. Charges of fraudulent registration, especially in the downtown wards, resulted re-sulted to'day in special orders by the election boards and the police department depart-ment to safeguard the polling places and make arrests where suspicions of repeating are aroused. Chief of Police Steward ordered every ev-ery policeman to report for duty and assigned one man to each of the 1,324 precincts. The election commission appointed 200 special officers to be detailed de-tailed in the downtown wards and each of tho candidates has arranged for watchers in each precinct. In support of Prof Charles E. Mer-riam, Mer-riam, Republican candidate for mayor, most of thelstudents of tho University of Chicago will spend thd day either at polling places or aiding to get out a largo vote. |
