Show SIR COAL MUS. ON Official announcement of the summer sum-mer rate on coal was made Monday by the Oregon Short Lino In a circular Issued by J. A. Reeves, general freight agent. The summer rate will bo In effect from May 1 to July 31. The rate Is the same as has been In effect during -the last three years for storage stor-age purposes and tvIU mean a 6avlng of 60 cents por ton for thoso who purchase pur-chase coal within that time. In a letter let-ter which will bo sent to the coal mining min-ing companies, tho retail dealers and tho nowspapors of that section of the country supplied with coal via the Short Line, Mr Reeves says: ' "The winter just passed has been a very open one, but this cannot be depended upon always. The railroad company will, as usual, store a large quantity for its own uso and solicits th co-operation of mining companies, dealers and consumers in storing coal to prevent scarcity during winter." It is expected that tho other railroad companies hauling coal Into this clty wlll make tho same reduction as is announced an-nounced by tho Short Lino, oo |
