The beauty chorus alone would have maae me snow, dui, comuineu witu. the excellent work of several very clever leads, brought tho production up to the highest standard of perfection. perfec-tion. The exquisite costumes, elaborate elabo-rate sceuery and entrancing music brought all present to tho fullest realization reali-zation of their rosy dreams of Arcadia, tho land of love and romance. Johnny Osborne, as Slmplicltas, was a natural comedian and took very well In a part full of opportunities. Cliff Worman, who Ib substituting for Vernon Ver-non Davidson In the role of Jack Meadows, would never have been recognized rec-ognized as an underatudy, in fact, he did some of the be3t work of the show Dainty Alice RusBon, laughter provoking provok-ing Marie Shields and entrancing Mo-ya Mo-ya Manuerlng were extremely well cast. Peter Doody, a Jockey, played by Gilbert Gil-bert Chllds, was by far tho best bit of comedy character work soon here this season, in a part that depended entirely en-tirely on the person handling the role, Mr. Chllds mado a decided hit and left perhaps the strongest impression of anyone appearing In the production. It Isn't often that a real voice Is heard In musical comedy, but Ruth Thorn (Sombra) had a perfectly beautiful beau-tiful soprano voice, which she used to the greatest advantage. She Is a rarely rare-ly gifted girl, and her work went far towaid proving the reputation the piece has of being the beat musical comedy in eight years. |
