Show Mercury Drops As Spring Arrives We were under the impression that Spring was to arrive at 2:36 Monday morning, but judging by the temperature reading reported by P. E. Church we have decided the. calendar must be in error. A reading of 13 belpw zero was reported re-ported Monday morning, and we believe that sets a. record as no one in authority has been able to. verify such a low temperature reading for March 20 or 21 in any preceding year on record. We are willing to believe Spring is here, but it must be proven to us. Mr. and Mrs. Homer Robinson were hosts, Sunday evening, at a dessert luncheon, followed by an evening of bridge. Enjoying their hospitality were Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Lamb of Roosevelt, Mr. and Mrs. S. F. Mortensen, Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Rex Lamb, Miss Alice Todd, Mr. and Mrs. James Dalgleish, and Mr. and Mrs. Ted Thomas. Prizes were awarded to Mrs. Floyd Lamb and Mr. and Mrs. Morten-sen. Morten-sen. Mr. and Mrs, Marsh Donegan and family who have been residing resid-ing Butte, Montana, while Mr. Donegan was employed there during dur-ing the winter months, returned to Myton last week and are again settled in the Hemphill house. Mr. and Mrs. Syerl Dennis spent, a few days in Salt Lake City while Mr. Dennisf received medical attention, and they visited their sons who reside, there. They were accompanied by H. L. Crapo who also visited, members of his family. During their absence Mrs. Howard Gilbert cared for the small daughters of the Dennis family. Mr. and Mrs. B. L. Dart of Price were Myton visitors Tuesday, Tues-day, greeting old friends. They were guests at the ranch home of Mr. and Mrs. O. A, Dart during their short stay. Cpl. Jack Mieure who has been serving with the Army in Korea docked at Seattle last week and rushed to Salt Lake City to greet his wife who has been employed there: during his absence. . They then, came to Myton for a weekend week-end visit with Mr. and Mrs. Earl Gingell, her parents. They left Monday for Sumner, Illinois, to visit his parents. He will; receive his honrable discharge there. , Miss Shirley. Harmon, a student stu-dent at the USAC at Logan was a weekend visitor at the home of her. parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Harmon. AT TOURNAMENT A large crowd of basketball fans attended, the Class B basketball basket-ball tournament held last week at Provo. Among those who attended were Mr. and Mrs. W. H, Linck, Miss Margo Linck, Miss Alice Smith, Miss, Rolene Duke, Miss Beverly Anderson, Dale Peterson, Ray Adams, Roy Moulton, Miss La Ree Bywater, Miss Elaine Chandler and many others. All were enthusiastic about the Union team and especially proud of Richard "Packy" Fenn, the only Myton boy on the team, and who proved to be the star of the game. Mrs. Lydia Peatross arrived at her home Monday after a thrre-month's thrre-month's visit in Salt Lake City and Provo where she visited her sons and daughter. During her absence she was under medical care, but is now recovered. She was accompanied by Mrs. Leonard Harris who has been residing in Salt Lake City for several months. She- will attend to her. property interests here and will visit with Mrs. Peatross for a few weeks. Mr. and Mrs, Milton Lott and family spent the weekend in Salt Lake City to visit her mother who has been seriously ill, but is now improving. They also enjoyed the Tourney at Provo while on the trip. |
