According to L. F. Hutch-ings, Hutch-ings, principal, the budget as approved ap-proved might be altered slightly. In 1954-55 the budget was set at $113,404.54. However, with the adidtion of a liberal counseling program for the school, and the need for additional equipment such as string musical instruments, it became necessary to make some increases. The budget is based on a possible enrollment of 490 to 519 students next year. How the two counties participate partici-pate in financing Union High School was explained by Mr. Hutchings. It is based on the average av-erage daily attendance of students from each county. Next year if 490 students enroll, there should be 250 from Duchesne and 240 from Uintah. If the enrollment reaches a possible 519, Duchesne Du-chesne should have 264 as compared com-pared to 255 for Uintah County. The last report from Mr. Hutchings Hutch-ings on enrollment revealed (Feb. report), that Uintah has 230 and Duchesne has 222 on the rolls. Each county, therefore, pays on the average daily attendance from that rmintu To Buy Instruments The adidtion of string instruments instru-ments and instruction next year to the music department will be welcome news to music lovers. The board set in their budget a total of $665.00 to purchase instruments. in-struments. This wilL be something entirely new for the school. The music instructor is Owen F. Bur-gener. Bur-gener. Another important decision reached Monday night by the combined com-bined boards was the establishment establish-ment of a definite scale for a salary sal-ary schedule. According to Mr. Hutchings if a new teacher, who is beginning his first year in either eith-er Duchesne or Uintah counties, were to receive $3300 in one county coun-ty and $3100 in the other, the starting salary at Union would be an average of the two, or $3200.
