Show Shower Is Held A shower was held in the chapel chap-el on Wednesday evening for Miss Beverly Squire, daughter of Mr. -and Mrs. Calvin Squire, who will be married to Kirk Allred of Salt Lake City on March ' 25. Mrs. Squire, Mrs. Wilmar Parrish and Mrs. Fred Cook were in charge. There were sixty-three ladies and girls present. Games were played and the following - program presented: pre-sented: Mrs. Elton Kettle gave a reading, Mrs. Junior Betts sang a solo, accompanied by Barbara Hul-linger. Hul-linger. The young bride-to-be received re-ceived some beautiful and useful things. Refreshments ,were served afterwards. . . . .. .. Mr. and Mrs. Earl McKenna, who have been living at Orem, While Earl was attending the B. Y. U. "the winter quarterr are moving back. to Roosevelt. . Snellen Johnson and Dale Worn-, ack are two . of the boys from Ballard who have played basketball basket-ball in the state tournament at Proyo. : Mrs. Ella Ainge, of Jensen, visited vis-ited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Von Haslem last Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Junior Jenkins attended at-tended the funeral ' services of Doyle Bird, held at Naples one day last week. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Eldredge, of Provo, spent the weekend a$, the home of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Eldredge. Squire Mangum had the misfortune misfor-tune to have a horse kick him on the leg. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Jenkins and daughter, Celia Kay, motored to Provo to see the final game of basketball. Cecil had been there for the other games. Quite a few from Ballard attended at-tended the wedding reception in Roosevelt Friday evening for Mr. and Mrs. Junior Hicks. Mrs. Ru-lon Ru-lon Anderton of Roosevelt, taught Mr. Hicks' room for two days during his absence. Miss Elenore Labrum, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harden Labrum, had the misfortune to break one of her wrists and has her arm in a sling now. ON HONOR ROLL The following students from Ballard are listed on the Honor Roll at Union High School: Mary Hullinger, Carolyn Ross, Elaine Angus, Pat Gines, Sonja Neilson, Golden Heed and Mariann Larsen. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Todd attended at-tended funeral services of Lynn Ross of Arcadia, at Duchesne on Thursday. They also visited at the home of Mr. - and Mrs. Mont S. Poulson, Mr. Todd's sister. Mr. and Mrs. Ward Evans, of Maeser, visited with their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Evans and family, one day last week. Norman Rasmussen, who has been attending the BYU this year, has discontinued school, and is now at home. Gerald Hatch, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Hatch, is listed as en-ilistine en-ilistine in the armed services. Ger ald has been a student at the Agricurtural College in Cedar City this year. FIRE IN HOME The Squire Mangurhs had the misfortune to have a small fire in their home Saturday evening, while Mr. and Mrs. Mangum were busy working with their chickens. Due to the quick work of Mr. Mangum the fire was extinguished before much damage was done. Gary, Danny and Marion Gardner' Gard-ner' went to Vernal Sunday evening eve-ning to attend the farewell testimonial testi-monial for Floyd Tullis, who ..enters ..en-ters the Mission Home in Salt Lake City this week, prior to. going go-ing on an LDS mission. ; BIRTHDAY PARTY ) A' surprise party was held in the Alterra ' ' gym' Saturday eve- ning in honor of ' Gary Gardner's birthday. Some fifty were present and games and dancing were enjoyed. en-joyed. A pot-luck lunch was served ser-ved with Mr.' and Mrs. Earl Gardner Gard-ner serving ice cream and punch and a beautiful birthday cake. Gary leaves in April to enter the Mission Home before leaving on an LDS mission. Wendel Johnson, now of Provo, enjoyed a short visit at the Rus-sel Rus-sel Todd home and with friends over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Todd and small son left Monday to visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Farrell Mohlman at Bountiful, then will continue on fyo Stockton, Calif., where Howard will be stationed with the armed forces. |
