Show Current Topics The Current Topics club met at the homeof Joye King for the final business meeting of the season. A pot luck luncheon was enjoyed by 21 members. Business was conducted by President Elaine Henderson. The club reported the success of their projects for the year especially the rummage sale which helped to accomplish their goal to present $5,000 to the Community Parks Playground Committee. Chairman Kathryn Slaugh expressed appreciation for all that the members did to make the rummage sale a success. She also expressed appreciation to the people and the stores of the community that gave articles to help in the sale. Thelma Wright, Festival of the Arts Chairman for the club, reported she was delighted with the results of the Festival held at the junior high, Saturday , April 24. "The members time and talents delighted about 600 children who had their faces painted, dressed up and paraded around, received gas balloons, did fence painting and oh, yes, decorated the birthday cake," Thelma reported. The members of the club thank Rhoda DeVed for the time and effort she put into the project, stated Thelma. Mar jorie Sowards reported that some of the members have pledged to help with the Utah Arts Festival to be held at the Salt Palace in Salt Lake City in June. |
