Show "lUintah netters garner third place region honors ie Uintah Utes garnered third place ie Region 7 Tennis Tournament at jntain View High School in Orem, sday and Friday and its second pies team, Adam Massey and Lynn J flow, netted first place honors. Tipview placed first with 20 points .XMountain View netted second at 8 s. Uintah, Provo and Orem tied for I place at 7 points. Pleasant Grove ured sixth place at five points and ,q rican Fork placed seventh at one ter. Uintah's first place champions, Massey and Bigelow, thumped Keith Barnes and David Rice, Timpview, 6-2, 6-3; crushed Brett Campbell, Tom Beagle, Pleasant Grove. 6-4, 6-1 and edged Mike Gividen and Chris Webb, Orem, 7-6, 6-2. The Utes' first doubles team. Ken Golding and Mike Saupe, placed third in tne region meet. Golding and Saupe downed Tom Garn and Shawn Holdway, Pleasant Grove. 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 and downed Tim Seitz, Brad Anderson, Orem, 3-6, 6-3, 7-6. Golding and Saupe lost to Ken Weenig and Lyle Folsom, Timpview 7-6. 6-3 and lost to Tom Garn and Brad Anderson, Pleasant Grove, 6-3, 6-3, 6-4. Uintah's singles did not place. Mike Crowell, first singles, lost to John Collins, Provo, 6-1, 6-1 and Bart Reese, American Fork, 6-3. 6-3. Mike Webb. Orem. downed Uintah's Greg Clark, second singles, 6-0, 3-6, 6-4 and Jim Stone. Timpview, thumped Clark, 6-3, 6-2. Mike Saunders, American Fork, downed Crowell, 6-1, 6-2. Golding, Saupe, Massey and Bigelow will compete in the state tournament Friday and Saturday at Brigham Young University. Winners in the region playoffs were: first singles, Brad Pearce, Timpview; second singles, Sam Pigott, Timpview; third singles, Will Sperry, Timpview; first doubles, Weenig, Folson, Timpview and second doubles, Massey and Bigelow, Uintah. |
