Show Showmanship, training meet The Grand County 4-H Livestock group and the Red Rock Riders will co-sponsor an exciting free clinic demonstrating demon-strating showmanship and training of horses for halter classes by a World Reserve Champion on Saturday, Mar. 4 at the Grand County Area. Coming to Moab will be Greg and Ron Hiatt of Grand Junction, Co. Greg and his mare Kachina Jepp qualified for the 1977 American Junior Quarter Horse Association's World Championship show held in Tulsa, Oklahoma last year. Under the direction, coaching and encouragement of his older brother, Ron, he competed against approximately approxi-mately 77 of the top young people from the 50 states. Greg was awarded Reserve Champion in Showmanship, an event that tests both the horse and trainer. Ron and Greg will be demonstrating de-monstrating their world champion caliber ability by conducting the clinic in "Showmanship at Halter" and "Preparing Your Horse for Halter Classes." The clinic will begin at the arena on March 4 at 10 a.m. The clinic is free, open to the public, and there will be a snack bar. Following the clinic will be a Gymkhana with three age brackets: 12 and under, 13-18, and 19 and over. The entry fee for each event will be 50 cents. Everyone is encouraged encourag-ed to bring his horse and participate in the learning experience and fun day. |
