Show Eastern Utah Cattle Growers ' held annual meeting in Moab By Pearl Baker The Eastern Utah Cattle-growers Cattle-growers Association met at Moab for their annual spring meeting and election on Sat. The business meeting was held at the Court House, and the banquet and dance at the Legion Hall in the evening. During the business meeting meet-ing several problems of the industry were discussed, with most of the growers finding the drought relief program satisfactory. Mrs. Nancy Dunham Dun-ham gave a short report on rainmaking, and after some discussion, it was decided to make a $.25 a head voluntary donation to this program. Brucelosis and scabies were discussed. Utah was at one time a certified Bangs-free state, but that classification has been modified to some extent the past few years. According to a law taking effect July 1, 1977, stock sold for breeding has to be vaccinated, vaccin-ated, preferably before the heifer is 6 months of age. There Was some discussion of having to apply for non-use of privately leased or owned school sections surrounded by BLM lands. A BLM hearing in Salt Lake City on March 30 was announced. announ-ced. A Public Land use hearing hear-ing will fall the day before that, on the 29th, and it was urged that people turn out for both of these hearings. This is the only land use hearing outside of Washington, D.C. and last year, only two people from SE Utah appeared at one -of these conferences. Good representation is vital on these matters, just as news releases from the various cattle and ranch organizations will represent the cattle industry in-dustry and educate the public.
