Show ' - 'if : - Lions will display replica Model T A half-scale replica of a two eater 1910 Model T Ford will soon be on. display in Moab, ' courtesy of the Lions Club, who have purchased the I vehicle for the express purpose pur-pose of raising money for the benefit of not only the blind but also other worthwhile projects that will help the city of Moab. Said Lion W. D. McArthur, this project will help replenish the dwindling funds of the Lions, who have helped others until they hurt. This car was built for youngsters up to age 80 and is capable of going at the terrific peed of a minimum 12 miles per hour. At one time it was claimed that anyone who went faster than 15 miles per hour would suffocate. Modern people know better. This Tin Lizzie, with a 50-inch wheelbase and 3 HP engine, is designed to run in yards, playgrounds and paved areas, but not on highways. The body is of steel, with fiberglass fenders, brass colored col-ored headlamps and bright red wheels. It has the same simple design, driving and handling characteristics of the original Model T and even sounds like one when it is running. Its originator, Henry Ford, is said to have said, on the first test run when the driver reported several parts had fallen off during the test, "If the car ran without the parts, let's identify them so that in the future we will not put them on the cars." |
