Show SENIOR CITIZENS MINI-CONFERENCE Senior Citizens traveling to Price Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 27 and 28, for the Governor's Mini-Conference were Madge Warde, Elma Lee Elderkin, Rosalie Robertson, Robert-son, Velma Pauls, Ella Slama, Howard and Lena Shields, Mildred Campbell, Bud Lincoln, Lin-coln, and Walt Miller. There were over 300 senior citizens attending from San Juan, Grand, Emery and Carbon Car-bon Counties. The sessions consisted of the following 1 sub-area sessions: , 1. Responsibilities of churches chur-ches to the elderly. 2. Minor-ities-Isssues. 3. Programs for the elderly, (a) Volunteer programs and (b) Outreach programs. 4. Local issues of concern. Each sub-area had a chairman chair-man as presiding officer, a vice-chairman who helped the participants develop policies and recommendations; and a recorder to keep records of priorities and suggested ideas. ide-as. From Grand County, Walt Miller was a chairman, Mildred Mil-dred Campbell was vice chairman, chair-man, and Elma Lee Elderkin was recorder. Only seniors 60 years and older were able to vote on the priorities. Although Gov. Matheson was unable to attend at-tend as he was in Washington at a governor's meeting, his wife attended and spoke briefly brief-ly at each session. Mrs. Matheson Math-eson sat in on each group and was taking back to the Governor Gov-ernor what she learned. The next governor's conference confer-ence will be May 8 and 9 in Salt Lake. All Grand County seniors are invited to attend. |
