Show Chamber members express concern over large groups Members of the Moab Chamber Cham-ber of Commerce expressed concern con-cern over the amount of people expected to attend two chamber-sponsored chamber-sponsored events this spring and summer. ' Dee Tranter, chairman of the Annual Jeep Safari committee told the Chamber Tuesday, that with the cancellation of a jeep event on Easter Weekend at the Sahara Dunes in Juab County, Moab was expected to pick up the extra four-wheelers. Since in the past the annual Jeep Safari has been trouble-free as far as law enforcement problems are ' concerned, the feeling was that the extra people would be just as cooperative as in the past. But, as President Ron Auger stated, "Forewarned is forearmed." More concern was expressed over the possibility of approximately approximate-ly 20,000 people attending, over a 10-day period, the Hang Gliding event to be held here in September. It was suggested that the Chamber write to the Weiser, Idaho Chamber of Commerce for advice on how to handle such a crowd. Weiser has had experience in hosting large amounts of people with their annual "Old Time Fiddler Contest." |
