George Jarvis, son of Mr. and Mrs. B. Jarvis Jr., outstanding student at the B.Y.U. at Provo, was one of a few selected to meet Doctor Milikin, who was a distinguished dis-tinguished visitor- in Salt Lake City last week. George was a scholarship student at the B.Y.U. last year having done exceptionally fine work in the fields of Mathematics Mathe-matics and Science. All ordinance workers, recorders, and employees of the St. George Temple were honorably released by Pres. Heber J. Grant through Pres. George F. Whitehead last week. Bp. Harold S. Snow spent last week in Salt Lake City and was set apart for his duties as Temple President and commenced his labors on Monday morning. Mrs. P. E. Fullmer returned Sunday to her home at Springdale after a week's visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Hiatt here. Mrs. Ina Rice of the Shevwitts Indian Reserveation underwent an operation at the local hospital last Wednesday. Mr, and Mrs. Phil Foremaster, entertained the Postoffice employees em-ployees and their partners at a chilli supper at their home last Wednesday evening. Mr. and Mrs. John Tobler and daughter, Miss Barbara of Overton, Over-ton, Nevada, spent the week-end here visiting their daughter, Mrs. Lenzi Sullivan and other relatives. Henry Jacobson of Pine Valley, Clayton Frei of Santa Clara and Hyrum Thompson of this city have been released from the local hospital hos-pital to return to their respective homes. Members of the South Ward Genealogical Class ' enjoyed a dancing party and refreshments following their regular meeting on Monday evening. Mrs. Wayne Gardner and infant son, of St. George, Mrs. Delia Allen ,of Cane Beds, Arizona and Mrs. Lupie Micholson, of Moapa, Nevada have been discharged from the local hospital during the past week. Claud Worthen, proprietor of L"cks Barber Shop received a Pain ul injury to his left ankle Sunday when his horse fell on him while he was pheasant hunt-ng hunt-ng near the river. It was first thought that his ankle was broken put his physician pronounced it a bad sprain which will keep him in bed for a few weeks. ; Rex Frei, Jed Fawcett, Ward :Espin and Wayne Gardner attended at-tended a meeting connected with the District Four, Division of Grazing, which was held in Cedar City the latter part of last week. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Jarvis and Mrs. Lewis Gerber of Salt Lake City spent the week-end in St. George visiting relatives and friends and pheasant hunting. Word has been received here by Mr. and Mrs. Royal H. Blake of the marriage of their son Hollis to Miss Lucy D. Phillips of Idaho Falls at that place on October 16. They are expected to arrive in St. George soon to make their home. Alma Cottam, son of Mr. and Mrs. Heber Cottam, who is a Medical student at the University of Utah this year gave a very interesting in-teresting talk on "The Smoke Menace" over K.S.L. at 4 o'clock on Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Annie J. Milne and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hamblin of Salt Lake City returned home on Monday after visiting with relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Hamblin enjoyed en-joyed a visit to Boulder Dam while here and also enjoyed a visit with their daughter, Mrs. William Riding Rid-ing in Veyo. |
