Show Touchdown! One of I the greatest of all thrills to a spectator is to ' vatch the players of a football team out on the gridiron exerting every ounce of energy to carry the ball over the i! goal line. Even the most sedate presently find themselves shouting shout-ing for a touchdown, as though their encouragement would " somehow inspire the players to even greater efforts. . When we stop to think of it, a touchdown in the football i Same is only a symbol. It brings a fleeting fame to the I Player, and a line in the gymnasium giving the score of the j; ?ame. The player himself is giving his utmost of skill and : energy to gain an objective against stubborn odds, just for I "w sake of the school, realizing if he thinks about it at all that such praise as he may receive will be whisked - away on the wind about as soon as the crowd has lett the field. . , He is giving his best for the sake of an ideal, and if doesn't put "service above self' the team won't get very far- How many times this Rotary motto applies to the game - of life if we but stop to think of it. |
