He also went over the plans for the greenhouse now under construction on the south side of the science building, and the specifications for the new atheletic field and stadium sta-dium which will be constructed on the site of the present football field. Superintendent Skidmore announced an-nounced that the $8,000.00 appropriated appro-priated by the state board for this purpose is now available and construction con-struction work will be started in the early part of January. He re-tierated re-tierated his friendly support of the junior college movement, according ac-cording to Pres. B. Glen Smith, who pointed out the active support sup-port received by Dixie college from Mr. Skidmore at the time of the transition from a church junior college to a state institution. The superintendent was selected two years ago by the students of Dixie college to present the dedicatory speech at the unveiling of the monument to southern Utah leaders lead-ers as typified in the lives of the late Pres. Anthony W. Ivins and Edward H. Snow. Superintendent Skidmore was enroute to Salt Lake City after appearing as a speaker before the convention of the teachers of southern Nevada, which was held at Las Vegas last Friday. |
