| Show I l The Last Army Order WASHINGTON August 10Major Wm P i Gould of the Department of tho Army hag been placed on the retired list The recent general army order sending officers back to their regiments after a period of four years on detached duty is provoking much discussion discus-sion among officers in Washington But two of the officers now on duty here will be compelled com-pelled to join their regiments at oncethey are Captains Gregorv and Davis of General Sheridans staff Captain Davis was recently assigned to staff service but has been on detached duty for a number of years The I officers who favor the order say that favoritism favor-itism is now ended that officers will not be allowed to remain away from their commands com-mands ten or fifteen years that captains who have never seen their companies will have an opportunity to look at them and that men who have been on the frontier for almost a score of years will now be permitted per-mitted to taste the sweets of army life That order said an officertoday means a resurrection of the army I |
