Jensen County Agricultural Agent Production of corn silage is increasing in this area every year, There are many corn varieties var-ieties on the market and it i to the grower's advantage to select a good yielder. In order to help farmers choose a good variety for their particular area, we have conducted field tests each year. This year these are located at the following farms. Lepn Burton, Talmage; John Muny, Duchesne; Hale Holgate, Arcadia; Richard Olsen, Nepla; and Clyde Lisonbee, Bluebell You are inyited to see these corn tests anytime between nqw and harvest time, Harvesting of first crop alf-alfa alf-alfa on our fertilizer demonstration demon-stration plots has just been completed. Striking results were obtained on the Richard Olsen farm in Neola. Here the plots receiving no fertilizer yielded an average of 16 lbs. of green I alfalfa per plot. The plots re-jceiving re-jceiving 200 lbs. of 43 phosphate phos-phate yielded 44 lbs per plot, and those receiving 400 lbs. of phosphate yielded 47 lbs. At the Hyrum Jensen farm, south of Roosevelt, the plots receiving no fertilizer yielded an average of 24 lbs. of green alfalfa. 200 lbs. of phosphate gave 44 lbs. and 400 lbs. phosphate gave 59 lbs. |
