Show IVlore Basin Phones .... RE A Approves Phone Loan For $449,000 Floyd Ross, chairman of a committee that has been working work-ing diligently the past several months endeavoring to secure a loan from the Rural Electrifi- cation Administration for a loan to expand telephone service in rural Uintah Basin, were rewarded re-warded Saturday when a telegram tele-gram was received from Congressman Con-gressman Walter K. Granger advising ad-vising him that REA had approved ap-proved a loan for $449,000. According to Mr. Ross, the original application for a loan was for a lesser amount of money. However, the loan grant will provide approximately 437 miles of new lines, and those securing se-curing telephones will have a dial service. Application was made under the name of the Uintah Basin Telephone Co-operative. Delay on beginning the project pro-ject probably will be experienced experi-enced due to the untimely death of several of the officials of REA who were aboard the ill-fated ill-fated United Air Line plane that crashed near Loveland. Colo., early Sunday morning or late Saturday night. Mr. Ross reported that it will be necessary for the committee to secure more applications for phones than had previously been suggested. However, with assurance of the project being completed, this job should be comparatively easy, Mr. Ross suggested. |
