Show St. Helen's Church Has flew Pastor; Bishop Plans Uisit Reverend Ignatius Strancar arrived in Roosevelt last Saturday Satur-day to assume pastorship of St. Helen's Catholic church. He replaces re-places Rev. Timothy Ryan, who had been . serving a temporary appointment, and has gone to Salt Lake City. A native of Yugoslavia who came to America in 1948 as a refug-ee from that Communist over run country, Rev. Strancar Stran-car served for two months, last September and October, at the church being relieved by Rev. LeMay, who is now at Vernal, The new priest was ordained in 1932 and studied for the ministry min-istry in his native country. Until early this year. St. Helen's Hel-en's and t. James' parishes in the Uintah Basin had been operated op-erated as one, but a division has been made, and they are separate sep-arate parishes at this time. Rev. Strancar's appointment is of a permanent nature, and he comes here from Our Lady of Guadalupe Guada-lupe parish in Salt Lake City, where he has been since coming to the United States in November Novem-ber 1948. Sunday, July 8, members of the local parish will have an opportunity op-portunity to hear Bishop Duane G. Hunt of the Salt Lake City diocese, who will address them at two' masses, 7 a. m. and 9 a m. The bishop is returning to the area where he first labored la-bored as a priest over 20 years ago and is expected to renew acquaintanceship with people )he knew then. ! |
