Show Farm Plan Should Go To Banker; Make Credit File A copy of the farm plan for soil conservation "should be made available to banks, anfi ber come a part of th.e farmer's credit cred-it file." This is, one of the ree-commendations ree-commendations of the American Bankers Asspciatipn in "A Program Pro-gram for Country Banks, 1951" issued by its Agricultural Commission, Com-mission, This, says the U. S. i Department of Agriculture, is in accord with the Basin phil osophy of the Soil Conservation Service that land or soil 'is a sound basis for agricultural credit when it is conserved by being' kept in its place and not allowed to erode away, and when use' of the land is planned on the" basis of its continuing use for the purposes to which it is best adapted. Bankers, says their association, associa-tion, should "encourage the development de-velopment of a sound conservation conserva-tion plan for every farm and ranch in the nation." Three other country bank projects pro-jects proposed for 1951 were: "Deelop a credit program to financially support soil improvement improve-ment practices. "Work up a plan of credit to assist farmers in certain areas to change from one-crop agricultural agricul-tural production, to that of diversification. "Have every state appraise its idle acres and develop a plan of j productive usef or them in pastures pas-tures and timber." I Soil Conseration districts, with the aid of the technicians of the Soil Conservation Service, Ser-vice, are making progress as I rapidly as the work can be jdone in preparing the programs I that warrant support by the bankers. This includes the preparation pre-paration of the "farm plans" for each farm. which the bankers recommend as "a part of the farmer's credit file." |
