Show Departments For Ladies Set For UBIC Fete Mrs. Parley Rawlings, chairman chair-man for the Ladies' Depart ments for the UBIC, announced this week that there will be no judging, no ribbons, nor rules nor regulations for the handicraft handi-craft department. Any one, regardless re-gardless of age, may enter any handicraft item, as long as it is handmade. Articles for display may be taken to Mrs. Rawlings any time prior to the UBIC at her home, or on August 4 from 12:00 noon to 6 p.m. at the Roosevelt stake house, where Mrs. Rawlings will receive them. All women are urged to enter en-ter their handwork rugs, quilts, fancywork, wood craft, textile or figureine painting, etc to be displayed in the handicraft department, newly added to the convention this year. A ladies' session is planned for each day of the three-day celebration. Myrtle Lambert, home economics teacher at the Union High School, will conduct con-duct the department the first day, Aug. 5, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., explaining how women can create small businesses in their homes. Local and outside participants will assist with this session. On Aug. 6 and 7, Miss Theta Johnson, clothing specialist, and Miss Ruth Malin, child psychologist, psychol-ogist, both from the U.S.A.C., will be the guest speakers. Friday's Fri-day's session will be from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday's session ses-sion from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. Mrs. Rawlings, Mrs. Floyd Labrum, Mrs. Elmer Eldredge and Mrs. Clem Labrum formed a committee to make UBIC ties to sell to help finance the celebration. |
