Show Seventeen Girls Entered In Miss UBIC Contest Seventeen contestants have entered the "Miss UBIC" contest con-test for 1933, according to Mrs. Kent Johansen, president of So-cialette So-cialette Club, who is in charge of the event. Entries were tD have been in by July 10th, but Mrs. Johansen stated that clubs or towns may still sponsor a girl if names are submitted immediately im-mediately to her. Girls must be unmarried and sixteen years of age. They must present a photograph pho-tograph to the committee. The "Miss UBIC" dance, where the queen will be chosen to reign during the 3-day celebration, cele-bration, is scheduled for Friday, July 31, at Victory Park. The floor show will be held at 10:30 p.m. at which time all candidates candi-dates vieing for the queen title will appear first in formal dresses and then in bathing suits. Each person having a dance ticket stub will be entitled en-titled to vote, and may purchase as many dance tickets as he wishes. Votes will be deposited in ballot boxes, counted and announced at the dance. All clubs and communities in the Basin should have been contacted to sponsor a candidate, candi-date, but in the event some have been missed they are still invited in-vited to enter a contestant. So far the following girls are being sponsored by the respective respec-tive club or community: Maxine Hurley, Roosevelt Lions Club; Esther Wogec. American Legion, Post No'. 64; Carolyn Dennis, Roosevelt BPW Club; Marilyn Brighton, Socialette; Joyce Hall, Junior Culture; Joyce Rogers, Altrus Club; Melba Benson, American Legion Auxiliary, Unit Un-it No. 64; Helen Rudy, Kiwani-Anns; Kiwani-Anns; Pauline Larsen, Arcadia LDS ward; Afton Adams, Myton Auxiliary; Sherene Henrie, Nen-la Nen-la Auxiliary; Earlene Warbur-ton, Warbur-ton, Lapoint LDS ward; Joanne Todd, Ballard LDS ward; Carma Hansen, Altonah American Legion; Leg-ion; Florence Weeks, Altonah LDS ward; Vada Lee Burton, Talmage LDS ward; Carol Blea zard, Mt. Home LDS ward, Je-nene Je-nene Harris, Myton MIA, and Eloyce Atwood, Bluebell LDS ward. Organizations in Vernal and Duchesne have been contacted by the Socialette Club to sponsor spon-sor girls for the contest, but so far neither has responded. |
